Deck-
It was an interesting year. You loved McDonogh in so many ways. You also had some behavior issues – some impulse control, some unkindness, some attention seeking. Pretty normal pre-k, 5-year old stuff. But McD did ask us to get some behavior therapy. We started this past Friday; somewhat fittingly, also your last day of school.
I’ve thought a lot about what I’m thinking about these calls we’ve been getting from school. I’ve thought a lot about the message I want to convey to you. Tonight, I know precisely, and succinctly.
YOU ARE GOOD!
You are really good. You are a kind soul. You have a light within you that I think can only be the slightest touch by God him or herself.
If you remember nothing else about yourself, remember that you are good.
Look at the pictures below. Look at the pure joy. I love you more than I could ever communicate. I do not love you because you are good. You are not good because I love you. You are simply good. And I love you. These are two facts of existence that cannot be removed, no matter any circumstance.
Thanks for making me a Dad! I’m grateful for you! I’m enjoying it all so much. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Dad
