Gibson,
You’re too big. I used to be able to lay you on my chest to sleep. First, your feet barely got to my stomach. Then your feet went to my waist. Now they’re at my knees. You’re almost too big to sleep on me anymore.
Watching you and Decker grow is, in some ways, one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever experienced. When you’re small, I can keep you safe. When you’re small, everything is in front of you. Everything. Now, a little bit is behind you. Just a little. Like your first steps. The first time you said “luv ooo.” The first time you hugged your brother for no reason.
Obviously, so much more is in front of you. But the old saying, “You’ve got your whole life in front of you” isn’t exactly true. Now, a little bit is behind you. Just a tiny bit. But just enough to break a parent’s heart.
You’re getting too big too quick. But keep it up buddy!
I love you!
Dad
