Decker and Gibson,
I’ve been working a lot lately, guys. And for the next six months, it will probably continue. I see you every day and spend time with you every day, but not quite as much as I would like.
I’m doing the final transition of the law firm from Grandpa to me. It’s a different firm, now concentrating in workers’ compensation and personal injury. A few months ago, I had two of our five lawyers announce they were leaving within a few week time period.
As a consequence, I’m left with more work than I’d like. Growing up with a father who worked too much, it scares me.
Plus, you guys are saying and doing new awesome things every single day. It’s amazing! I don’t like missing a second of it.
But it’s a lot of pressure, providing for you guys. It’s scary for me. And hard. And some days really scary and hard. I want so badly to provide you guys with a great home and a great education and all that you and your mom need. It’s half my mission. The other half of my mission is to love you guys and connect with you on a deep, deep level and have you guys feel safe and loved. It can be hard to balance my two self and universe imposed mandates. But I’m trying. Everyday.
I don’t say this to get credit or points with you guys. I say it because it’s me. It’s my experience – what I’m going through day to day and I want you guys to know me, just like I want to know you and hope that you will share your experiences with me.
I love you guys!
So, so much.
Dad
