Biz Idea #42 – Facebook Timeline for Your Health

by Byron on March 1, 2012

The Problem:

My medical records, my opinions of my general wellness, my x-rays, prescriptions, otc medicines, pictures of myself, vital stats, etc. are not in one place

The Business

Facebook Timeline for your health.

Curates not just your medical records, but well-being, diet, vitals, pics, articles you clip about health.  Everything health related in a multimedia timeline.

Doableness

At its most basic level, not the most complicated thing in the world, assuming the health consumer could upload everything.  You only need a very sophisticated team of engineers and the usual marketing gurus.

I believe, however, there are various data ownership issues and if medical providers are not doing the upload for the consumer, the idea loses appeal because it loses ease of use.

My Thoughts

I understand this is being worked on.  I get that there are certain pieces of your health history that might not actually be available, even to you.  I know Accredited Care Organizations are working on this.  Sort of.

This doesn’t exist because no one knows how to make money from it.  How about simply from charging to curate?  Or advertising?

Or just build the damn thing, make it the standard, get your economic moat/natural monopoly, then charge insurers to decide how to price policies.

A universal database used by every health care provided would be great!

Money could be made from it by making it a universal rewuirment by the govt. Instead of the software they use nowwhich probably can not be synced online, this one should be based like an actual social network with high security of course. This way it can be accessed anywhere by anyone. It can also be used as a new appointment software that is online, this way patients can always have access to appointment dates as reminders and reschedule at the click of a button. Also, it would create better communication between the health professionals and patients. Each health provider would require a simple profile with background info yo help patients pick their provider as well by preference and of course insurance.
