Biz Idea #77 – Video Production Crew for Website Content

by Byron on April 19, 2012

The Problem:

I need to obtain video testimonials for a website.  I need a mobile video production crew, with a competent interviewer.  Product must have professional feel.

The Business

A video production crew, ready to handle smaller jobs on a moment’s notice.

Video production crews are not a novel concept.  However, there seem to be three major problems with existing crews.

  1. They specialize only in events – weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc.
  2. They are from a world where video wasn’t easy, and are still priced as such.
  3. They are geared towards more artsy production.  (It’s okay if you spend all free moments working on that indie film, but that doesn’t need to come int0 my testimonials videos.)

There are websites designed to link up those in need (me) and those with video production services.  None seem to completely meet my need.  My vision here is large scale.

Doableness

Franchises aren’t usually my idea of a good time, but I think the franchise model works perfectly for this idea.  Develop a crew in one city.  Write the book on how to do it.  How to hire, what skills to look for, the forms to use, the legal agreements, the website, tools for marketing, the appropriate equipment, etc.  Then go Dr. Scholls on it – “Early to bed, early to rise.  Work like hell and Advertise.”

I think there is a need for this, and will continue to be an ever increasing need.  Look at all the wealthy parents with video cameras out at kids events.  Wouldn’t it be nice for them if the event was professionally video’d and they didn’t have to quasi miss the event while shooting poor quality video.

My Thoughts

As video becomes a bigger part of our world, so will the business opportunities stemming from it.
