China’s One Child Policy and the Future of Chinese Investment

In my opinion, you don’t even need the analysis from Jim Chanos (not that I don’t listen to it or think it’s useful).  All you need to know is this.  The One Child Policy.

China wants to be wealthy, but they don’t want to do the hard work of freedom and democracy.  I don’t think the wealth gets sustained for particularly long without the freedom and the democracy.

People, in the short run, will go to the safety of tyranny.  Think Hitler.  But business and capital, if given the choice, will move towards freedom.  This is not out of any patriotism, but out of self-preservation.

This story about Chinese Emigration doesn’t sound like the stuff capitalist success stories are built on.
